Discover the patterns of relationship that support aliveness
through the power of Symbolic Mapping or Independent Thinking Sessions

1: Symbolic Mapping
There are moments in life when we reach the limits of analysis. We can gather more information or think the problem through from every possible angle, but lack perspective. At these times, finding another way of seeing can help you find clarity.
Symbolic Mapping is a contemplative process of inquiry that I have developed over more than two decades of practice. It grows out of two traditions that have shaped my work.
In 2001, I was initiated as a traditional African diviner in Botswana, where I was trained to work with symbols, patterns, and the language through which meaning reveals itself.
In 2018, I graduated from African Constellations as a Family Constellations Facilitator, where I encountered a systemic approach to healing that attends to the often unseen dynamics influencing individuals, families, organisations, and communities.
Symbolic Mapping is my integration of these traditions into a distinctive process that honours both symbolic intelligence and the wisdom of the knowing field.
Rather than receiving a reading, you become an active participant in the inquiry. Together we create a symbolic map of your question, allowing images, relationships, and patterns to emerge in ways that thinking alone rarely permits. The map becomes a conversation.
As we follow it together, hidden assumptions become visible, overlooked connections reveal themselves, and new possibilities begin to take shape. My role is to hold a space of careful attention in which insight can emerge and what has been waiting to become visible is given the opportunity to do so.

Questions people want to explore can be around relationships, family dynamics, difficult decisions, vocational crossroads, creative blocks, questions of purpose and recurring patterns that seem impossible to shift.
These are rarely questions with simple answers. They ask instead for a different quality of attention, one that allows deeper orders of relationship to reveal themselves and new perspectives to arise with surprising clarity.
The process is both reflective and experiential, combining careful observation with meaningful dialogue. Many people leave with a renewed sense of clarity, direction, and possibility, discovered through their own direct experience.
Sessions are 90 minutes and are available online or in person. The investment is R1,100. To book a session, email anel.hamersma@gmail.com with a brief description of what you would like to explore, and we will arrange a suitable time.
2: Independent Thinking Sessions
A Free Range Human practice for reclaiming the power of your own mind.

Most of us have never experienced what it's like to think for ourselves. We are advised, corrected and interrupted before our thinking has had the chance to unfold. Over time, it becomes easy to lose confidence in our own minds and to look elsewhere for answers. This 'outsourcing' domesticates the mind, and pulls us away from our own wisdom and intellect.
A Thinking Session is a practice built on the work of Nancy Kline's Thinking Environment®, a simple but profound discipline based on the belief that there is nothing more important than learning to think for yourself, as yourself. My role in these sessions with you is to create the conditions in which you can do your very best thinking.
I've noticed that a Thinking Session has a number of layers. We begin with the surface stuff. Then gradually fall deeper and deeper into what really matters, and what is real for you. As your thinking unfolds, something remarkable often happens. New ideas appear. Assumptions lose their grip. You begin to hear your own voice again.
This Free Range Human practice is a quiet act of reclaiming your own mind. In a culture that constantly competes for your attention and tells you what to think, a Thinking Session offers the freedom to discover what you actually think, what you actually feel, and what is true for you.
Sessions are 60 minutes, online or in person. The investment is R850.
